What I've Been Up to the Last Few Months
It’s been a while since my last post. At the end of last year, I was just out of gas so to speak. In my 5 Favorite Photos from 2023 post, I mentioned that I lost one of my best friends last year. He’s the second friend I’ve lost in a short period, having lost another best friend in 2021. At the end of the year, I decided to take a break from writing. A lot has happened and I’ve done a fair bit in the last few months, so let me catch you up.
City of Rocks
Late last year Ben and I met up at the City of Rocks for some weekend camping. He had never stayed there before, so it was a new experience for him and I enjoyed revisiting the area and exploring it more. I even took another swing at a photo I took while I was there back in 2022.
Processing an Image Months After Taking the Photo
At the very end of fall last year I took this picture when there were plenty of leaves littering the ground around my home. My idea was to duel process the photo in black and white as well as in color, then blend the two versions into one image. I didn’t get around to working on it until after the holidays; this is how it ultimately came out.
Rockhound
After losing two of our friends in a short amount of time, Ben and I are making efforts to meet up and hang out as much as possible. We have a list of places roughly halfway between us that we want to explore, and this time we landed at Rockhound State Park, New Mexico. There are rugged mountains surrounding the place, and I got an epic sunset picture while I was there.
Videos
Each of the above segments has a video to go with it. I’m always trying different things to better tell the stories that go with the images. Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but it’s all part of the adventure. Check these videos out and come along for the ride.
I think that quote is the best way I can end this post. I’m not sure if I prefer writing a post for each month like I have in the past or combining a few months into a mega-post like this. Either way, thanks for catching up with me, and until next time, bye for now.
