For the rest of the trip, we had quite a bit of sightseeing planned, so we hit the road.
As we were leaving Colorado Springs to go to Salida we drove through a rainstorm. I couldn’t resist getting a panorama of the mountain range in the distance through the rain. This is a 12 frame pano, and I love how much of the landscape it captures.
Once we made it to Salida we drove up the S Mountain for sunset. Colorado sunsets are something special. The clouds and the sky were beautifully lit, and I had a great view of the Arkansas River winding its way towards the mountains.
Our next stop was the Great Sand Dunes outside of Alamosa. I was looking to get something different from what I saw at White Sands in New Mexico, and I was rewarded with this shot of a lone man trudging up the dunes. The human element that the traveler adds to the photo sets it apart and makes it one of my favorites.
Our final destination was Pagosa Springs. I took this shot from a scenic overlook at a rest stop after an extremely twisty mountain road, it was just too good to pass up.
On our last day in Pagosa Springs, we were driving down a side road and came across this scene. I love this image because it is quintessential Colorado with the fence, trees, and mountains in the background.
Colorado is a beautiful place full of natural wonders. Every time I visit there I’m reminded how much more there is to the world around me. Like I’ve said before, the world is very big, and we are not. Instead of reaching for the next thing try to stop and enjoy what’s already there.
I got a lot more video footage of this part of the trip than I did of the first part. Watch the video below, you don’t want to miss anything. The full album from this trip will be out next week. Bye for now.
