Light, including moonlight, changes everything.
You may recognize this picture from this year’s New Mexico album. I took it on one of the first nights of that trip while we were in Faywood. Right outside our camper was this old shed, and I really wanted to do something with it. No matter how I tried to compose the shot the shed just wasn’t catching light in a way that interested me during the day, so I decided to try a nighttime image. Usually I need a head lamp to set up and adjust the camera at night, but not this time because there was a full moon out. The moonlight gave me a photo that almost looks like I took it during the day except with the added interest of the stars in the sky. I was pleasantly surprised and glad I woke up to take this shot. Normally I don’t set an alarm to do astrophotography unless I know the conditions are going to give me what I want.
Everything is an experiment. You have no way of knowing what will happen until you try it.
If you would like to see how I processed this image in Lightroom be sure to watch the video below. Bye for now.
